A MAGICAL Winter Wonderland opens today (December 14) in Campbell Park, Milton Keynes, offering attractions such as an ice skating rink, circus, husky dogs and reindeer.

Winter Wonderland MK, which is free to enter, will run from today until December 22.

As well as a Santa’s Grotto and fair, there will be live music and performances from acts including dance group Kazzum, who reached the final Sky One’s Got to Dance, and X Factor’s Laura White.

Tomorrow (December 15), MP Iain Stewart and Deputy Mayor of Milton Keynes Subhan Shafiq will officially welcome the new festival to the town in a special ceremony.

They will be joined by festival organisers and volunteers and staff from local disability charity Papworth Trust, which is the official charity partner of Winter Wonderland MK.

The welcoming ceremony will start at 2pm with cheerleaders, circus acts and sea cadets parading through Campbell Park.

School girl Amelia Richards will then cut a celebratory cake to officially welcome Winter Wonderland MK to Milton Keynes.

Budding entrepreneur Amelia, who has cerebral palsy, is part of family candy business The Lollipop Girls.

Along with her mum Sarah, Amelia will sell candy floss and popcorn at Winter Wonderland MK, and donate 50p from every sale to Papworth Trust’s youth clubs in Bedford, which support local disabled people.

As the charity partner, Papworth Trust will run a festive marquee at Winter Wonderland MK, giving away free balloons and with family friendly activities such as Christmas tree bauble making for children and a tombola with prizes.

Festival organiser Lorenzo Franco said: “For the first time, Campbell Park will be transformed into a magical Winter Wonderland this Christmas,

“Make sure you come and join us for live music, an ice skating rink, circus, and husky sled races – plus plenty more.

“We have plenty of attractions for all the family to enjoy. Best of all, entry is free and you only pay for the attractions you want to visit.”
