UNBEATEN is how MK Dons remain from pre-season after yet another victory over a Tottenham Hotspur XI.

It was a great opportunity for fans to see how the young players at the club are developing, and the players duly obliged with good performance offensively and defensively.

MK Dons set their stall out early on as they won three corners in the first four minutes with their attacking play.

Ben Reeves had the first chance of the match when he forced a good low save from Spurs keeper Jonathan Miles after he shot from the edge of the box. Will Summerfield also had a long range effort when he cut inside of his defender on the edge of the area, but his shot went over.

Spurs got into the game and Ian Mcloughlin scrambled across his goal to stop a header from Tottenham captain Kevin Stewart. Former Don Jake Livermore went close with a header a couple of minutes later but his effort went just wide.

Patrick Bamford had a great chance to score in the 12th minute when he capitalised on a terrible backpass by Spurs right back Ryan Fredericks, but he put his effort wide.

Triallist Zavon Hines, who has played for West Ham United and Bradford City in the past, looked lively and his probing attacking runs had Spurs defence reeling.

There were plenty of chances falling to both teams, with Yago Falque blazing over when he found himself with the ball just inside the area, while Dons went close with a header in the heart of the Spurs box but they were uable to take the lead.

Summerfield will still be wondering how he missed a chance made by hines in the 28th minute. After a great cross from the triallist, Summerfield blazed the ball over the bar when he was two yards out with an open goal to leave the scores at 0-0.

But he was not made to rue the miss, and Dons took the lead though after a great piece of vision from Bamford.

He picked out Giorgio Rasulo with the pass, whose initial shot was saved by Miles. But the striker got a second bite of the cherry, and he stabbed the ball home to break the deadlock and give the Dons the lead.

With the bit between their teeth, acrobatics from Hines inside the six-yard box were not enough to add a second, but the home side were just about worthy of the advantage going into the second half.

With both teams making changes, the second half was a bit of a damp squib.

Ben Reeves struck a thunderous free kick against the bar to liven up the game in the 68th minute, but Dons found themselves on the back foot for the final 15 minutes.

Substitute Kenneth McEvoy looked lively on the left, and after cutting inside on the edge of the box, he shot at goal. But Shaquile Coulthirst stuck his foot out to divert the effort wide.

McEvoy went on to have three good chances in the last 10 minutes. Firstly, he struck a free kick over the bar from a dangerous position on the edge of the box after handball was given,

But the Dons defended stoically to thwart the efforts and maintain the Dons unbeaten run.

Coulthirst also had a chance in injury time, but once again the Dons back line stood up to the challenge to claim an excellent win over the Tottenham Hotspur XI.
