Wife jailed over false rape claim

A spurned housewife’s claim of rape backfired when her husband showed police a video of them enjoying sex together.
A judge was told on Thursday how Kelly-Ann Ferguson had been filmed by husband Paul on his mobile phone.
Now the 23-year-old, of Tinkers Bridge, has started a nine-month prison sentence for the rape allegation, which was disproved when police viewed Mr Ferguson’s video clip.
Judge Lord Parmoor, sitting at Amersham Law Courts, heard Ferguson had met her husband to try to patch things up.
But when Mr Ferguson told her he didn’t want her back, she went to the police and said she had been raped.
Police arrested Mr Ferguson but in an interview he told them he had recorded the alleged rape.
The judge heard Ferguson was seen on the video to be giggling and laughing. Police interviewed her and she admitted she had made up the story.
Prosecutor Meryl Hughes said: “The couple had married in December 2010 but the marriage broke down and she left the marital home on April 14, 2011. On the 27th the pair met to discuss the marriage and they went back to his home, her former home.”
It was then Ferguson alleged the rape took place.
Ms Hughes added: “She said after the rape he went into a crazy rage and told her to get out and never come back.
“Her husband was arrested and he told police he had recorded it all on his mobile phone.
“Officers went to speak to Ferguson to challenge her about the video and she confirmed no offence had taken place.
“She told police she had felt, at the end of the evening, he treated her badly and dismissed her.”
Mr Ferguson spent 15 hours in custody and Thames Valley Police spent nearly £1,500 investigating the claim.
Katherine Duncan, defending, said: “She is full of remorse for her actions. Her marriage had broken down and she was in an emotional state.
“She said he had behaved in an unchivalrous way towards her and she had been hurt by this.”
